With over 30 years of leadership in international trade and as the founder of five companies, Fan Tan Smith brings a strategic global mindset and a proven entrepreneurial track record. Driven by a deep appreciation for human creativity, she focuses on solving real-world problems through scalable, sustainable solutions that bridge the gap between human needs and technological possibility.

A committed humanitarian, she funds schools, orphanages, and clean water systems across Africa and Asia, has served fifteen years on the boards of three organizations, and is a member of Rotary International.

Recognized as Best Female CEO of the Year 2025 by the Leader 100 Global Wealth and Leadership Forum, she champions innovation and technology that uplifts humanity.

Bringing over two decades of experience in engineering and leadership, Daniel Flaherty serves on the board of smAiT, leveraging a diverse background in complex system engineering, quality control, government contracting, and mission-critical infrastructure. As the Department Head for Facilities Engineering at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Daniel drives innovation and operational excellence in “Big Science” initiatives.

With a proven track record of navigating complex, regulated environments and building high-performing teams, Daniel offers strategic guidance on moving AI and robotics initiatives into production, ensuring the company's solutions meet the highest standards of excellence and regulatory compliance.

Erik Norden brings deep experience in computer and AI architecture across some of the most influential technology companies in the world, including Apple, Google, and NVIDIA, and most recently served as CTO of Zyphra.

He advises smAiT on AI systems architecture, scalable compute infrastructure, and long-term technology positioning.

A recognized pioneer in artificial intelligence and robotics, Dr. Adrian Kaehler has spent his career advancing the frontier of machine perception and autonomous systems. As Founder & CEO of Illium AI, he leads work at the intersection of computer vision, robotics, and applied machine learning.

He is a longtime contributor to the field of computer vision, including foundational open-source work that has shaped how developers and researchers build vision systems worldwide.

At smAiT, he advises on autonomy systems, embodied intelligence frameworks, and advanced robotics software architecture, helping ensure the company's technology is grounded in deep technical rigor and real-world deployability.

Jack McCauley

Co-Founder, Oculus · Innovator in Residence & Professor, UC Berkeley

Jack McCauley is a co-founder of Oculus and a veteran hardware and systems engineer who helped bring breakthrough consumer technology to market. Named one of the greatest inventors of our lifetime, he serves as Innovator in Residence at the Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation at UC Berkeley, where he is also a professor, and is an active philanthropist.

He advises smAiT on hardware systems engineering, complex product architecture, and scaling advanced consumer technology platforms.
